Final Assignment

We were told that we needed to take a freshman class to learn about the student life attending UHD. I was expecting the class to be a bit boring and useless. However after spending my first week with Professor Logan and my peers it was actually nothing what I expected. I made relationships and got the feeling of being in a much different environment than from high school.
Although I was expected to learn more about the school and it's services but I did learn a few things about the many resources in the library. One positive thing about the class was the slideshows Professor Logan created for class. I learned something new and interesting every class period. One thing that I believe professor should be more strict on is reading the articles and making sure students understand what the purpose is. But besides all the pros and cons the class was great! I made new friends and learned many things. Thank you Professor Logan.

Social Media Consultation

Nike:

The brand that my partner and I would be analyzing is Nike.Nike is one of the biggest athletic apparel company that makes sporting equipment, exercise gear, and casual apparel for men and women of all ages and sizes. They use all forms of media so that people of all age will know of their company. They succeed using social media because they have many sponsorship's with many groups worldwide!

Overall Summary of social media use:
Nike is Huge with social media. They use all types like Pintrest, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook. Nike depends on its social media connection to spread its brand. For example they have the famous slogan "Just Do It" so if you were to go to any social media i mentioned before and were ego type that it you'll most likely get results that'll lead you to some type of ad based on Nike and its performance. Twitter is known for its hashtag symbol. If you were to update your statues mentioning nike and used the hashtag symbol alone with the phrase "#Nike" or "#JustDoIt" you'll get such results. You can also get the same results with Instagram. On YouTube you can find a really cool animated video based on the FIFA World Cup 2014 that has the brand with the slogan "Risk Everything".

Strengths and Weaknesses:
The weakness on such tools is that sometimes people will link them to a disturbing photo or video ruining the brand leading to people not wanting to be involved with the brand. But if anything it has more of a strength because of the fact that many people promote it because its a brand that is of high social statues and quality.

Privacy Info

Facebook: The privacy setting on my Facebook account show that only my friends can see my posts but I found a tab that says ‘review my posts’ and it shows every action in detail that I've ever did on Facebook. It’s actually kinda creepy.

Yahoo: My Yahoo account is pretty secured from what i discovered. I can see when my e-mail has been accessed and from what location. It also gives me an option as to how long my account will stay on a computer if I happened to forget to log out.

Pintrest: Pintrest security info tells us that they try their best to protect our accounts from and theft or type of hacking at the best of their ability but ask for help if we find anything suspicious. The cool thing is that we can create a 'secret board' that are secret for us and anybody we allow to see it.

Google: Google gives me basic security as to who can view my information depending on who i add into the circle.

So in my opinion I believe that my yahoo account is giving be the best privacy. I like that it informs me when and where my account was last accessed and who can see my information. The account that i believe that has the worst privacy is Facebook. There's no limit to who can reach your stuff. I was able to see every action that I ever made on Facebook. Even though I knew what I liked and what I was tagged in I got a sense of being watched by my own self because I clearly forgot about every action I ever made on the site. So seeing every detail creeped me out a bit

The blog Gizmodo

The blog that I'm more interested in out of the two that I have listed is Gizmodo. It's the blog that informs you about all the new, cool, and hip technology that's trending. One article I was reading was about a app that can bring your Halloween costumes to life! Actual animation to your costumes, how cool would that be? You can either make the costumes by hand or go all out and buy all the gear that comes with it. Here's a quick video that'll simply blow your socks off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOQws77j_6c&noredirect=1

Chinese Gold Farming

After I read the article and watched the video I learned that the people we are buying our virtual money from to play online games is to the Chinese workers who play those games with us for a living. These Chinese workers play games in a small office day after day just to earn money to make it by everyday in their country. This company is what we called "Gold Farms" and it's in control of where be buy our coins from to advance in a game. After the owner of this company visited America he realized that everything was so expensive and that a dollar in America is worth ten yuan in their currency so he came up with the idea to sell virtual money in those fantasy games to convert it to yuan so that they can make money.

Group Project

Members:
  • Cody Ide
  • Emerlly Pineda
  • Ashley Carter
Project Topic:
Digital Privacy- People now-a-days have the ability to share their personal life through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. When signing up for those certain groups they don't realize that they're agreeing to a whole bunch of other terms under "sharing". Without notice these social networks or apps also have the ability to track your exact location taking "sharing" to a whole new level being how much of their information is actually being shared.

Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test

Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test™
Your Type
INFJ
Introvert(22%)  iNtuitive(38%)  Feeling(50%)  Judging(11%)
  • You have slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion (22%)
  • You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)
  • You have moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking (50%)
  • You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (11%)

I've taken multiple personality test and I would have to say that this is the best test I've taken so far. after I was done taking the test I was given results, the results were very accurate on the type of person that I am. The results even gave me new facts that I didn't even know about myself until I took the test. Strangely it was a bit of an eye opener.

The one major thing that stood out to me was that in the description it talks about the complexity of my character. It stood out to me because I know how much of a complex person I am but I wasn't sure about what I was complex in therefore the results were able to point those out to me. Thanks to the test I will now know how to manage those different factors to become less of a complex person.
